چکیده

The problem of deciding how to land aircraft approaching an airport involves assigning each aircraft to an appropriate runway, computing a landing sequence for each runway and scheduling the landing time for each aircraft. Runway allocation, sequencing and scheduling for each aircraft must ensure the scheduled landing time lies within a predefined time window and meet separation time requirements with other aircraft. The objective is to achieve effective runway use. In this paper, the multiple runway case of the static Aircraft Landing Problem is considered. Two heuristic techniques are presented: Scatter Search and the Bionomic Algorithm, population heuristic approaches that have not been applied to this problem before. Computational results are presented for publicly available test problems involving up to 500 aircraft and 5 runways showing that feasible solutions of good quality can be produced relatively quickly.

Determination of the Aircraft Landing Sequence by Two Meta-Heuristic Algorithms

Due to an anticipated increase in air traffic during the next decade, air traffic control in busy airports is one of the main challenges confronting the controllers in the near future. Since the runway is often a bottleneck in an airport system, there is a great interest in optimizing the use of the runway. The most important factors in aircraft landing modeling are time and cost. For this reas...

MULTI-OBJECTIVE MATHEMATICAL MODELING OF AIRCRAFT LANDING PROBLEM ON A RUNWAY IN STATIC MODE, SCHEDULING AND SEQUENCE DETERMINATION USING NSGA-II

Runway length is usually a critical point in an airport system so, a great interest has been created for optimal use of this runway length. The most important factors in modeling of aircraft landing problem are time and cost while, the costs imposed on the system because of moving away from target times have different performances in terms of impact. In this paper, firstly, aircraft landing pro...

Mathematical Model and Vibration Analysis of Aircraft with Active Landing Gear System using Linear Quadratic Regulator Technique

This paper deals with the study and comparison of passive and active landing gear system of  the aircraft and dynamic responses due to runway irregularities while the aircraft is taxying. The dynamic load and vibration caused by the unevenness of runway will result in airframe fatigue, discomfort of passengers and the reduction of the pilot’s ability to control the aircraft. One of the objectiv...

Hybrid Algorithms for the Multiple Runway Aircraft Landing Problem

Over the past few decades, air traffic has experienced a tremendous Growth. However, as the air traffic develops, the limitation of the runway becomes the bottleneck during the airport operation and scheduling aircraft landing present a complex daily task encountered by most air traffic control towers. In this paper, we study the Multiple Runway case of the Aircraft Landing Problem (MRALP), whi...

A Statistical Analysis of the Aircraft Landing Process

Managing operations of the aircraft approach process and analyzing runway landing capacity, utilization and related risks require detailed insight into the stochastic characteristics of the process. These characteristics can be represented by probability distributions. The focus of this study is analyzing landings on a runway operating independent of other runways making it as a single runway. ...
